Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing an aqueous coating composition which has excellent storage stability and good compatibility with other resin components, enables the formation of a coating film having excellent coating film performance including finish appearance and water resistance, and contains acrylic urethane composite resin particles.
As a means for solving the problem, an aqueous coating composition is provided, which comprises (A) acrylic urethane composite resin particles, (B) a resin containing a reactive group and optionally (C) a cross-linking agent, said aqueous coating composition being characterized in that each of the acrylic urethane composite resin particles (A) comprises an acrylic urethane resin (I) and a graft acrylic resin (II), wherein the acrylic urethane resin (I) is synthesized in the presence of a graft acrylic resin (II) having a hydrophobic chain and a hydrophilic chain and having a weight average molecular weight of 5000 or more.
