[Abstract]
[Problem] The purpose of the present invention is to provide: an aqueous dispersion for cosmetic preparations, which contains black iron oxide and exhibits excellent dispersion stability, thereby being not susceptible to the occurrence of clogging for a long period of time even if filled and used in a pen-shaped container, and which exhibits good color developability if used as a liquid cosmetic preparation, while being capable of imparting water resistance; and a liquid cosmetic preparation which uses this aqueous dispersion. [Solution] The present invention provides an aqueous dispersion which contains: black iron oxide that is surface-silylated with alkyltriethoxysilane; water; and hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose phthalate. The present invention also provides a method for producing the aqueous dispersion, which is characterized by comprising a step wherein an aqueous dispersion that contains a surface-silylated black iron oxide is obtained by reacting black iron oxide and alkyltriethoxysilane with each other in water that contains hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose phthalate.
