Title:
AQUEOUS DISPERSION OF CARBON BLACK AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2006/137254
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
This invention provides an aqueous dispersion of carbon black, which has excellent dispersibility in an aqueous medium and is suitable as aqueous black inks including inks for ink jet printers, and a process for producing the same. The aqueous dispersion of carbon black is characterized in that it comprises a carbon black pigment dispersed in an aqueous medium, and acidic groups produced by liquid phase oxidation treatment have been neutralized with a basic amino acid and a part or the whole of hydrogen in the acidic groups have been substituted by a basic amino acid base. The process for producing the aqueous dispersion of carbon black is characterized by comprising subjecting carbon black to liquid phase oxidation treatment, then removing a reducing salt contained in a slurry, then neutralizing the slurry with a basic amino acid to substitute a part or the whole of hydrogen in the acidic group by a basic amino acid base and thus to produce a basic amino acid salt compound, and then conducting purification.
