Abstract:
This aqueous dispersion of a vinyl halide copolymer is characterized by being synthesized using a method that includes: at least one emulsion polymerization step A, in which the average value of the n-octanol/water partition coefficient (logPow) of a monomer group used as a raw material is 2.2 or less; and at least one emulsion polymerization step B, in which a monomer group used as a raw material contains a vinyl halide monomer and a copolymerizable monomer for which the reactivity ratio r1 with vinylidene chloride is less than 0.7 and in which the mass ratio of the vinyl halide monomer is 60 mass% or more relative to 100 mass% of the monomer group, with the mass ratio of structural units derived from the copolymerizable monomer for which the reactivity ratio r1 is less than 0.7 being 4 mass% or more when the total mass of the polymer synthesized in the step B is taken to be 100 mass%. However, a method in which the average value of the n-octanol/water partition coefficient (logPow) of a monomer group used as a raw material is the same value in all emulsion polymerization steps is not encompassed by the method described above. Moreover, an emulsion polymerization step that corresponds to both step A and step B may be step A or step B.
