Abstract:
An aqueous dispersion of a vinylidene fluoride (VdF) polymer which comprises a VdF polymer having a particle diameter of 200 nm or less and has a solids concentration of 30 - 50 wt. % and wherein the content of a fluorinated surfactant is 1 wt. % or less of water. The dispersion is produced by the emulsion polymerization of a VdF monomer or a monomer mixture containing VdF in the presence of both 1 wt. % or less of a fluorinated surfactant and 0.001 - 0.1 wt. % of a nonionic fluorinated surfactant, each based on water. The obtained dispersion is suitable for use in, for example, producing coating material.
