Abstract:

The present invention relates to an aqueous pigment dispersion which is composed of a pigment and a polymer dispersant that is obtained by crosslinking a water-insoluble polymer (A) having carboxy groups and a water-insoluble polyfunctional epoxy compound, while having at least some of the carboxy groups of the water-insoluble polymer (A) neutralized by an alkaline metal compound, and which satisfies the conditions 1 to 3 described below. This aqueous pigment dispersion is able to ensure storage stability at high temperatures and excellent re-dispersibility which enables inhibition of solidification of the pigment or the polymer in an ink ejection nozzle. Condition 1: The value obtained by [(100 - (neutralization degree) - (crosslinking degree))/100] × (acid value of water-insoluble polymer (A)) is from -30 mgKOH/g to 30 mgKOH/g. Condition 2: The value obtained by [(neutralization degree)/100] × (acid value of water-insoluble polymer (A)) is from 80 mgKOH/g to 180 mgKOH/g. Condition 3: The value obtained by [(crosslinking degree)/100] × (acid value of water-insoluble polymer (A)) is from 80 mgKOH/g to 180 mgKOH/g.
