Disclosed is an aqueous solution containing a poly(meth)acrylate polymer, which has excellent inorganic substance dispersibility and the like, exhibits satisfactory long-term dispersibility and has good color. The aqueous solution contains a poly(meth)acrylate polymer, and is characterized in that 30 to 85 mol% of carboxyl groups in the poly(meth)acrylate polymer relative to the sum total (100 mol%) of all of the carboxyl groups are alkali metal salts of carboxyl groups, 15 to 70 mol% of carboxyl groups in the poly(meth)acrylate polymer relative to the sum total (100 mol%) of all of the carboxyl groups are acid-type carboxyl groups, the poly(meth)acrylate polymer has a phosphorus-containing group, the poly(meth)acrylate polymer has a weight average molecular weight of 2000 to 9000, and the concentration of anions each containing a sulfur atom or a phosphorus atom in the aqueous poly(meth)acrylate polymer solution is 1000 to 10000 ppm relative to the amount of the aqueous poly(meth)acrylate polymer solution.
