Abstract:
Provided is an aqueous resin composition characterized by being produced by dispersing a self-emulsifying aqueous resin (C) in an aqueous medium, wherein the self-emulsifying aqueous resin (C) is produced by encapsulating at least one macropolyol (B) selected from the group consisting of polycarbonate polyol, polyester polyol, polyether polyol, polylactone polyol, a dimer diol and bisphenol A modified with a polyoxyalkylene in a polymer (A) produced by polymerizing a monomer mixture that contains an unsaturated monomer (a1) having a carboxyl group as an essential component. The aqueous resin composition can be used as a resin for an aqueous coating material. An aqueous coating material comprising the aqueous resin composition and a curing agent enables the production of a cured coating film having excellent coating film appearance, excellent adhesion to a base and excellent alcohol resistance and therefore can be used for a wide variety of articles including automobile bodies, industrial machines and plastic articles.
