Abstract:
The present invention relates to an arc extinguishing method and apparatus, specifically an arc extinguishing method and apparatus capable of extinguishing the arc of a mechanical switch using a small capacity capacitor, a first mechanical switch being connected in series to a load, and the capacitor and the arc extinguishing switch being used to form a power supply circuit, comprising: after arcing of the first mechanical switch occurs during the disconnection period of the first mechanical switch, the arc extinguishing switch is connected and the power supply circuit supplies power to the load, the potential difference of the two ends of the load rising and being used to extinguish the arc of the first mechanical switch. The present invention has the advantage of using a small capacity capacitor to achieve rapid arc extinguishing.
