Abstract:
An area recognition apparatus and method, and a communication system. The area recognition method comprises: a user equipment receiving area identification information, sent by a base station, for identifying a certain area; comparing the received area identification information with area identification information currently pre-stored in the user equipment; and determining, according to a comparison result, whether an area in which the user equipment is located changes. Thus, it can be effectively identified whether the area in which the user equipment is located changes or in which area the user equipment is located.
