Abstract:
This arrangement structure for a seal material comprises: a first member (31) having a first matching surface (32) and having a groove (33) formed therein; a second member (21) having a second matching surface (22) and moving relative to the first member (31); and an annular seal material (100) which is retained in the groove (33), seals between the first member (31) and the second member (21), and separates an atmosphere-side space (110) and a pressure-side space (120). The seal material (100) includes a plurality of first protrusions (12) protruding toward the second matching surface (22) and arranged side-by-side from the atmosphere-side space (110) toward the pressure-side space (120). When the seal material (100) is not retained in the groove (33), the shape of the seal material (100) is such that the heights of the first protrusions (12) increase stepwise from a first protrusion (12) disposed near the pressure-side space (120) to a first protrusion (12) disposed near the atmosphere-side space (110).
