Abstract:
An arrangement (10) for treating materials (12) with microwaves contains a multimode microwave applicator (18) for treating the material with microwaves in a first treatment region (20); a monomode microwave applicator (24) with a multipart embodiment for treating the material with microwaves in a second treatment region (22); and means (14) for successively conveying the material to be treated through the first treatment region and the second treatment region; wherein provision is made of a drive (32) for moving the two parts of the monomode microwave applicator apart or away from one another in such a way that the dimensions (30) of the second treatment region increase perpendicular to the conveying direction (28).
