Abstract:
[PROBLEMS] To provide an article feed roller such as a paper feed roller for feeding an article to be transferred in contact with the article and to provide a method and apparatus for producing the same. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] An article feed roller for feeding an article to be transferred in contact with the article characterized in that at least the surface of the roller to contact with the article is a metal surface which is a rough surface on which a metal coating is applied by an electric discharge machining means. An apparatus for producing an article feed roller comprises an electric discharge machining meanshaving a rotor type electrode supported rotatably, a means for grasping the feed roller rotatably, and a means for bringing the rotor type electrode close to the contact face of the feed roller performing axial rotation and separating the electrode therefrom freely and is characterized in that the rotor type electrode is brought into contact with the contact face of the feed roller performing axial rotation and electric discharge machining is performed while being rotated by the drive of the roller, thus forming a rough surface.
