Abstract:

This article management system comprises: a reader antenna (102) constituted by a termination-matched open transmission line; an RF tag (104) provided at a location that is electromagnetically coupled to the reader antenna (102) and that is visible from the reader antenna (102) in a state where an article to be managed (105) is placed in the vicinity of the RF tag; an article arrangement region in which the article to be managed (105) is placed and that is set at a location where the article to be managed (105) is electromagnetically coupled to a tag antenna of the RF tag (104); and an RFID reader (103) that sends out a transmission signal to the reader antenna (102) and that receives, via the reader antenna (102), a response signal output by the tag antenna. The article management system detects the presence/absence of an article to be managed (105) by detecting, by means of the strength or phase change of a signal reflected from the RF tag (104), a change in operating characteristics of the tag antenna caused by the article to be managed.
