[Problem] To provide an article packaging apparatus with which it is possible to prevent generation of waste articles that cannot be packaged in a process of accommodating articles in packaging bags and thereby improve productivity. [Solution] This article packaging apparatus 1 comprises: an article linear conveyor 6 in which multiple sliders 11 being mutually independently position-controllable are configured to be freely movable along a base 10, and articles 2 are supported and conveyed by the sliders 11; a packaging-bag linear conveyor 7 in which multiple sliders 21 being mutually independently position-controllable are configured to be freely movable along a base 20, and packaging bags 3 are supported and conveyed by the sliders 21; and a control device 9 which controls the positions of the sliders 11 on the base 10 of the article linear conveyor 6 and the sliders 21 on the base 20 of the packaging-bag linear conveyor 7. With this configuration, it is possible to prevent generation of waste articles that cannot be packaged in a process of accommodating articles in packaging bags and thereby improve productivity.
