Description:
ARTICULATED AWNING CAPABLE TO OPEN IN EXTENDED MANNER WITH A THREE-PART ARM FOLDABLE BY MEANS OF TWO HINGES

DESCRIPTION

The Field of the Invention

The invention relates to articulated awning, that is fixed to surfaces such as wall or ceiling in or outside houses or inside and outside vehicles and provide shade by means of opening by use of articulated arms of the awning cloth.

The invention particularly relates to an articulated awning which can be opened in a manner to cover or close a wide facade and contains two hinges and three-part arms in contrary to existing awning clothes in order to achieve it.

Background of the Invention

The shaded areas tried to be provided by use of umbrellas and curtains made of only clothing just until near past are now achieved by use of easier to use and more effective systems.

The articulated awning being subject of the invention has a wide area of use.

Particularly they are used to provide shadow in gardens of places such as cafe, tea garden and restaurants and to obtain open air places by means of closing it when requested. However, the area of opening remains limited because of width of main body and folding of arms only into two. Roughly the awning can be opened only in the length of the width of the body.

Another field of use is vehicles, particularly buses. It provides shadow for the driver and passengers by locating it on the front window. However, when considering width of the front window and that the awning contains two arms, it is clear that the awning cloth cannot be opened in a very long distance.

When the patent literature is examined about the articulated awning being subject of the invention, the following patents and utility models are seen.

Turkish utility model numbered TR 2002 01906 relates to improvements made in the closed main body contained in articulated awning. However, it does not contain any improvement about arms.

European patent with publication number EP 0501299 discloses a shaft located in a main body and where the arms are connected and parts connecting the arms to the shaft. When examined, it also seen that the awning consists of arms containing no articulation.

European patent with publication number EP 1331322 discloses members contained in articulation. However, when it is examined it is seen that it contains single articulated two-part arm but does not contain a third part or a second articulation. American patent with publication number US 6820673 discloses connection parts providing connection of arms to end body. It does not disclose a third arm part and a second articulation.

All of the above mentioned applications remain limited in regard to the field where it can be opened due to arm structures and provide shadow.

Because of all disadvantages, need for an articulated awning having a longer opening has arisen.

Description of the Invention

The invention has been developed with inspiration from existing situation and aims to eliminate the above mentioned disadvantages.

Main purpose of the invention is to disclose an articulated awning to be used in houses and vehicles and for providing shadows in inner or outer parts thereof or for providing protection from sun.

The invention aims to provide opening of the awning cloth from main body in a desired distance by help of arm which can be opened and closed in Z or inversed Z form by means of a second articulation and a third arm profile.

Another purpose of the invention is to prevent opening of arm profiles at 180 degrees by help of angle adjustment member and thus to provide conduct of closing movement by use of the least power.

The invention also aims to protect the closed awning against external factors with arm profile housing provided in closed main body and end profile in the form of a cap. In order to achieve the above mentioned purposes, the invention is articulated awning consisting of at least one main body fixed to at least one surface and supporting awning cloth roll and awning arm, two arm profile forming the arm extending from the said body and providing closing or opening of the awning by folding into two by an articulation mean and at least one end profile where the idle ends of the said arm and the awning cloth are fixed and additionally a third arm profile one end of which is fixed to the end profile and other end to a second articulation, that is on the other end of the said second arm profile as per the end thereof connected to the first articulation on the end of first arm profile.

In order to achieve the above mentioned purposes, the invention also contains at least one angle adjusting member located on the said articulations and providing formation of an angle less than 180 degrees between the interconnected arm profiles.

Detailed Description of the Invention

This detailed description describes the preferred embodiments of the articulated awning of the invention only for better understanding of the subject and does not cause any restrictive effect.

The invention relates to articulated awning consisting of at least one main body (10) fixed onto at least one surface such as wall or ceiling inside of home, outside home or inside and outside of vehicle, supporting awning arm (30) and roller (11) where the awning cloth is rolled, two arm profiles (33, 34) forming arm (30) extending from the said body (10) and providing closing or opening of the awning by folding it into two by means of an articulation (31), and at least one supporting end profile (60) where the said arm (30) and idle ends of the awning cloth (12) are connected.

The said body (10) is preferably selected from the group comprising closed body (10) referred to as cassette body in the sector and preventing visibility of the said awning cloth roller (11) from outside as indicated in figure 4 or open body (10) referred to as smart and allowing visibility of the roller (11) from outside as indicated in figure 6. However, use of a different body (10) does not eliminate the novelty provided by the invention.

The said awning arm (30) is fixed to the said main body (10) as illustrated in figure 4 and figure 6.

Figure 4 shows connection members (13) providing fixing of the main body arm hinge (36) fixed to the first arm profile (33) and capable to make opening/closing movement, onto closed body (10). Also the connection parts (14) providing installation of awning cloth roll (11) and main body (10) to the said ceiling or wall are shown.

Similarly Figure 6 illustrates connection members (13) providing fixing of the main body arm hinge (36) fixed to the first arm profile (33) and capable to make opening/closing movement, to square profile (15) located on the open body (10). Also the connection parts (14) providing connection to the said square profile (15) and fixing to the said ceiling or wall can be seen.

Figure 6 shows connection of the first and second arm profiles (33, 34) through the first articulation (31). The articulation (31) contains arm profile male connection parts (37) fixed thereon or formed as integral to the articulation (31) with its preferred form. The said connection parts (37) are positioned into first and second arm profiles (33, 34) formed as hallow profiles and thus the said arm (30) connection and articulation are formed.

The inventive factors of the invention are a second articulation (32), which is fixed to free end of the second arm profile (34), and a third arm profile (35) wherein one end is fixed to the said articulation (32) and other end to the supporting end profile (60). As a further inventive factor, the invention also contains at least one angle adjusting member (50) located preferably on the said articulations (31 , 32) and providing formation of an angle less than 180 degrees between the interconnected arm profiles (33, 34, 35). The said member (50) contains at least one body (51) and at least one prevention extension (52) extending into between arm profiles (33, 34, 35) and thus preventing contact of profiles (33, 34, 35) and thus providing formation of the said angle.

As shown in figure 2, the said third arm profile (35) is connected to a second profile (34) by means of a second articulation (32) formed in the same way as the articulation (31) providing connection of the first and the second profiles (33, 34). The second articulation (32) is located in a manner where it will fold in the opposite direction allowed by the first articulation (31). Thus folding of three arm profiles (31 , 32, 33) over each other in Z or inversed Z form is provided.

As indicated in the illustrative samples of Figures 4, 5, 6 and 7, the arms (30) are fixed to the supporting end profile (60) by means of end body arm hinge (38) fixed onto end of the third arm profile (35) remaining idle.

When the arms (30) of the disclosed articulated awning are in open position, an angle of 180 degrees can occur between the arm profiles (31 , 32, 33). But when it is desired to close the awning, this angle tries to prevent the closing. Since the articulations (31 , 32) allow folding in only one direction. That is why the above mentioned angle adjusting members (50) are used. The said member (50) is connected to the articulation (31 , 32) by means of the channel in the articulation (31 , 32) axle through a connection member (screw etc.) passing through the channel located on the bodies (51) in the form of preferably washer. The preventing extension (52) provided thereon extends between the ends where the arm profile male connection parts (37) on the articulation (31 ,32) contacts each other and opening of the arm profiles (33, 34, 35) in 180 degrees as indicated in figure 1 is prevented. As it can be seen in figures 2 and 3, the preventing extension (52) of the angle member (50) installed to the first articulation (31) is relatively thicker than the extension (52) inserted on the second articulation (32). Thus a narrower angle by the first articulation (31) is provided and so less force is needed for folding action when the awning is closed.

As not mentioned in the first claim, the angle adjustment member (50) does not influence the characteristic of articulated awning capable to open longer in comparison to awning having single articulated arm (30). Therefore, the said angles can be provided by different embodiments.

Finally, it contains an arm profile housing formed on the embodiment containing closed main body (10) wherein arm profiles, which fold and get closed, is located. Supporting end profile (60) formed in form of a cap is closed onto main body (10) and protects the awning system against external factors.

The protection area of this application has been specified under claims and cannot be limited to the descriptions only given as sampling above. It is clear that any innovation can be provided by a person skilled in the related art by use of the similar embodiments and/or can also apply this embodiment in other areas for similar purposes used in the related art. Therefore, it is also clear that such embodiments lack of novelty criteria.
