Abstract:
An artificial photosynthetic apparatus is provided with a condensing lens (14) and a semiconductor photocatalyst (12). The condensing lens condenses light at a predetermined magnification. The semiconductor photocatalyst has a semiconductor layer (12a) for absorbing light condensed by the condensing lens and generating an internal photoelectric effect, a reduction electrode (12b) for reducing carbon dioxide and generating a carbon compound, and an oxidation electrode (12c) for oxidizing water and generating oxygen and hydrogen ions. In the semiconductor catalyst, the semiconductor layer and the reduction electrode and oxidation electrode are integrated. The semiconductor layer absorbs light and generates heat, and the heat generated by the semiconductor layer is transmitted to the reduction electrode and the oxidation electrode.
