Abstract:

Disclosed is a substance having an ability of inhibiting a testosteron-5α-reductase activity, an ability of inhibiting or reducing the proliferation of a cancer cell, an ability of inhibiting a cyclooxygenase, an ability of inhibiting a 5-lipoxygenase, an ability of inhibiting the proliferation of a normal melanocyte and an ability of inhibiting the proliferation of a normal fibroblast. A compound produced by modifying a part of an artocarpine molecule or an artocarpine-like compound (e.g., a hydrogenated form, a demethylated form, a methoxylated form, a methylated form, an acetylated form, a dihydroxylated form, a dimethylether-added form, an epoxylated form and a hydroxylated form of artocarpine) is excellent in the above-mentioned abilities.
