Abstract:
Provided is a novel ASMT expression promoter. The present invention provides an ASMT expression promoter that contains ectoine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient. The present invention also provides a melatonin synthesis promoter that contains ectoine or a physiologically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient and that promotes melatonin synthesis via promotion of ASMT expression. The outcomes of improvements in sleep disorders, enhanced cognitive function, improvements in mood disorders, enhanced antioxidation activity, and enhanced antiinflammatory activity can be strengthened by promoting melatonin synthesis via promotion of ASMT gene expression.
