Abstract:
Provided is an assembly device that assembles a retainer by engaging a pair of cotter pieces with a valve stem. This assembly device is equipped with an assembly head that engages the pair of cotter pieces, which are in a separated state prepared by a preparation unit, with the upper end of the valve stem while maintaining the separated state. The assembly head is equipped with a housing member, which has a housing chamber, and a holding unit capable of pressing the pair of cotter pieces housed in the housing chamber against the upper end of the valve stem. The housing member contains a first contact part, which comes into contact with the pair of cotter pieces, and a second contact part, which comes into contact with the valve stem. The second contact part positions the valve stem in an axial direction, and the first contact part positions the pair of cotter pieces in the axial direction.
