Abstract:

Disclosed are an asynchronous FIFO controller and a method for preventing data overflow of an asynchronous FIFO buffer. The method may comprise: an asynchronous FIFO controller acquires the data volume to be acquired by a second FIFO buffer; the asynchronous FIFO controller acquires the data volume existing in the second FIFO buffer; the asynchronous FIFO controller adds the data volume to be acquired by the second FIFO buffer with the data volume existing in the second FIFO buffer to obtain the total data volume; the asynchronous FIFO controller compares the total data volume with the depth of the second FIFO buffer; and when the total data volume is not smaller than the depth of the second FIFO buffer, the asynchronous FIFO controller sends a stop indication signal to a first FIFO buffer.
