Abstract:
Disclosed are an austenitic stainless steel having improved hydrogen embrittlement resistance, and a high-pressure hydrogen gas container. The austenitic stainless steel according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises by wt%: 0.1% or less (excluding 0) of C; 1.0% or less (excluding 0) of Si; 2.0% to 7.0% of Mn; 15% to 25% of Cr; 7% to less than 10% of Ni; 0.4% or less (excluding 0) of N, and the balance of Fe and other inevitable impurities, wherein the stacking fault energy (SFE) defined by the following formula (1) is 40-70 mJ/m2. SFE = 4Ni+0.6Cr+7.7Mn-44.7Si+1.2 --- formula (1)
