Abstract:
Provided is a user authentication system (10) that uses an information code such as a two-dimensional information code. This authentication system (10) is equipped with an authentication device (20), and combines this authentication device (20) with a user's mobile terminal (30) to authenticate the user. An authentication code C, which records a facial feature point extracted from a facial image of the user, is stored in a memory (32) in the mobile terminal (30) so as to displayable on a screen. After a facial recognition possible state has been determined the authentication device 20 extracts a facial feature point from a photographic image produced by using an imaging unit (23) to capture an image of the user's face, and reads information pertaining to the facial feature point recorded in the authentication code (C) from a photographic image produced by using the imaging unit (23) to capture an image of the authentication code (C) displayed on a screen of the mobile terminal (30). The extracted facial feature point and the facial feature point that has been read are compared, and the user is authenticated on the basis of the comparison result.
