Abstract:
An authentication system comprises a portable device having an authentication ID and an authentication device having a function to authenticate by means of the authentication ID. The portable device comprises a measurement unit that measures signal strength during communication with the authentication device when registering the authentication ID to the authentication device, and an ID transmitter that sends the authentication ID to the authentication device at a transmission timing that is in accordance with the signal strength measured by the measurement unit. The authentication device comprises a receiver that receives the authentication ID sent from the portable device, a determination unit that, from among the authentication IDs received by the receiver, determines the authentication ID sent at a prescribed timing from the portable device to be the authentication ID to be registered, and a registration unit that registers the authentication ID to be registered as determined by the determination unit.
