Abstract:
An automated microbial molecular assay device and method. The device comprises: a control unit (1), a transfer unit (2), a specimen pre-treatment unit (3), a nucleic acid extract purification unit (4), an assay unit (5), and an enrichment unit (9). The control unit (1) is used for human-machine interaction and for storing a system parameter and data. The transfer unit (2) comprises a robot arm controlled by the control unit (1). The specimen pre-treatment unit (3) comprises a pre-treatment specimen storage area (31), a separation module (32), and a vibration module (33) with a temperature control device (31), wherein the separation module (32) is a filtering device. The nucleic acid extract purification unit (4) performs extraction and purification on a crude nucleic acid extract. The enrichment unit (9) enriches the crude nucleic acid extract or a high purity nucleic acid specimen. The assay unit (5) performs an assay on the purified specimen to obtain a result. An automated microbial molecular assay method using the assay device, comprising the steps of: specimen pre-treatment, nucleic acid extract purification, enrichment, and assay. The transfer is automatically performed using a transfer unit controlled by a control unit.
