Abstract:
An automated warehouse (10) is provided with a device body (10a) and a transfer device (26). The device body (10a) is provided with stationary shelves (24) which are arranged in the left-right and top-bottom directions and are adapted so that cassettes (C) are placed on the upper surfaces thereof. The transfer device (26) transfers a cassette (C) by holding a flange (C1) thereof. The transfer device (26) is provided with a vertical rail (34) and a transfer head (36). The vertical rail (34) has an upper end (34a) located near a support surface (24a) of the stationary shelf (24) of the uppermost tier. The transfer head (36) is a member which can ascend and descend along the vertical rail (34). The transfer head (36) has a vertical arm (36a) having a length which enables the vertical arm (36a) to hold the flange (C1) of a cassette (C) placed on the stationary shelf (24) of the uppermost tier.
