An automatic bread-making machine (1) provided with: a first motor (50) capable of applying, to a drive shaft (11), torque that causes said drive shaft to rotate at a low speed; a second motor (60) capable of applying, to the drive shaft (11), torque that causes said drive shaft to rotate at a high speed; a state selection unit that selectively implements either a first state, which allows the torque from the first motor (50) to be applied to the drive shaft (11), or a second state, which allows the torque from the second motor (60) to be applied to the drive shaft (11); and a state detection unit (75) that detects whether the current state is the first state or the second state. A control unit (120) in this automatic bread-making machine (1) controls the state selection unit so as to correspond to steps of a manufacturing process and verifies detection results from the state detection unit (75) when a prescribed step is started.
