Abstract:
Provided are an automatic drive control apparatus and an automatic drive control method, whereby it is possible to clearly urge a driver to switch from an automatic drive mode to a manual drive mode. A controller (4) for automatic drive control is equipped with: a drive mode switching unit (4a) which switches to a manual operation mode, in which a vehicle travels according to driving operations, if a driver performs a driving operation during an automatic drive mode in which the vehicle travels automatically along a recommended route; a navigation system (2) which provides route guidance, including guidance for changes in the route, on the display of a turn-by-turn screen (24), etc., to the driver according to the recommended route; and an operation mode switching promotion unit (4b) which urges the driver to switch to the manual drive mode in conjunction with the guidance for changes in the route during the automatic drive mode.
