Title:
AUTOMATIC FLOW RESTRICTOR FOR FIREFIGHTING APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2010/028250
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
An automatic flow restrictor (12, 112) includes a movement sensor (24, 124) that detects undesired movement of a firefighting apparatus (10) relative to a support surface (26) and automatically reduces the flow of fluid through the apparatus (10) to thereby reduce reaction forces acting upon the apparatus. The sensor may be a slidable member (124) or an actuatable lever (24), for example, that detects movement of the apparatus (10) along or away from a support surface (26), and actuates an adjuster (32, 132) to restrict the flow of fluid until the forces are balanced and the apparatus (10) stops moving relative to the support surface (26).
