The invention relates to an automatic gear-shifter for bicycle rear dérailleur gears, with a gear-shifting mechanism for a plurality of pinions and with a dérailleur for a plurality of chain leaves, wherein the gear-shifting mechanism and the dérailleur of the rear dérailleur gear are shifted in an alternating and separate manner in stages in accordance with the transmission sequence of the entire transmission bandwidth of an automatic gear-shifter with a mechanism, the control and drive of which gear-shifting mechanism and dérailleur are carried out by means of a gear-shifting lever in linear stages in accordance with the transmission sequence of the entire transmission bandwidth. Thus, in each gear-shifting position, either only the gear-shifting mechanism or only the dérailleur is activated via the customary cable pulls, by means of just one gear-shifting lever via the automatic gear-shifter connected thereto, so as to move through one gear-shifting position, wherein the automatic gear-shifter makes the selection among the numerous intricate transmission possibilities of a plurality of chain leaves to a plurality of pinions which the cyclist would otherwise have to make. This considerably simplifies the operability of the rear dérailleur gear and, during the entire period of operation, the cycling is undertaken with the most favourable chain line which has the smallest amount of tilt, as a result of which, in addition, a quiet and lower-wear chain movement is achieved.
