Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an automatic position detecting method for detecting the position of a printing medium, sensor unit, and printer, for which each optical sensor can be slid in the width direction of the printing media without needing the user to move the sensor unit. [Solution] This method has a step (S104) of measuring the width of a printing media (4) by way of moving a sensor unit (20), a step (S106) of transporting the printing media (4) along a transfer path after the width thereof has been measured, a step (S108) of detecting a pitch mark in a region for detecting pitch marks, and a step (S112) of stopping the transport of the printing media (4) when a pitch mark is detected.
