Description:
AUTOMATIC TAPE DISPENSER Technical Field The present invention relates to an automatic tape dispenser. More particularly, this automatic tape dispenser is designed to prevent the tape from rolling up at the space between the feed roller and the guide roller while the tape is advanced for dispensing and reversed for replacing.

Background Art Generally, the automatic tape dispenser comprises a feed roller, a pinch roller, a guide roller, an elastic pressing part, a tape cutter, a power-driving device, a power-transmitting mechanism and a controller, all of which are configured in a compact case. The pinch roller is adjacently installed above the feed roller. The guide roller disposed in front of the feed roller is installed adjacent to the tape outlet. The elastic pressing part is located above the guide roller for pressing the tape. A cutter is installed in front of the guide roller. The feed roller, guide roller and cutter are connected to the power-driving device through the power-transmitting mechanism for properly controlling the operation.

Finally, a compact case covers the components of the automatic tape dispenser. A control panel is provided on the exterior of the compact case for operation. The control panel is equipped with a power switch, an advancing key, a reversing key, a tape-cutting key, a taper-cut length-control key, etc. The outlet of the dispenser is equipped with a sensor.

When a user switches the automatic tape dispenser on, the tape end can be inserted between the feed roller and the pinch roller from the tape reel. If the user presses the advancing key, the feed roller and guide roller are rotated in a clockwise direction to advance the tape end toward the tape outlet. At this moment, the inserted tape end between the feed roller and pinch roller is advanced by rotation of the feed roller and pinch roller until the tape end reaches the tape outlet. While the tape end is advanced, the tape is guided by the guide roller and simultaneously pressed down by the elastic pressing part.

Once a desired length of tape is dispensed, the tape is automatically cut by the

cutter. At this point, the end of the tape is maintained at the tip of the tape outlet. The pinch roller, including a spring, resiliently contacts the feed roller. A pressing force controller is located above the elastic pressing part for adjusting the pressure on the tape.

When the user selects the auto-dispensing function on the panel, that is, when the user selects the auto-cutting button among the operation keys, the sensor detects whether the tape end is maintained at the tip of the tape outlet.

If the tape end is maintained at the tip, the tape is automatically dispensed and cut at a preset length.

When the user selects the manual dispensing function on the panel, the user can adjust the tape dispensing length by manually controlling the tape advancing key and cutter key.

Also, when the user wants to replace or remove the tape roll from the compartment of the tape dispenser, the tape remaining between the feed roller and the guide roller must be wound back to the tape reel. When the reverse key is pressed, the feed roller and guide roller are simultaneously rotated to reel back the remaining tape.

Because the conventional tape dispenser has a space between the feed roller and the guide roller, it causes the tape to roll up when the tape is advanced for dispensing or reversed for removing.

Disclosure of Invention In order to solve the aforementioned problems, an objective of the present invention is to provide an automatic tape dispenser in which the feed roller and guide roller are smoothly rotated without rolling up the tape when the tape is advanced for dispensing or reversed for removing.

Detailed Description of the Preferred Embodiments To achieve the aforementioned objective, an advanced automatic tape dispenser is introduced that comprises a pinch roller adjacently installed above the feed roller, a guide roller disposed in front of the feed roller installed adjacent to the tape outlet, an elastic pressing part located above the guide roller for pressing the tape, a cutter installed in front of the guide roller, a power- transmitting mechanism for activating the feed roller, a guide roller, a cutter and a power-driving device for operating the mechanism.

The feed roller (10) is evenly and uniformly formed with a plurality of feeding disks (13) on the entire shaft (11) for easily feeding a roll of adhesive tape. The guide roller (30) is also evenly and uniformly formed with a plurality of guiding disks (33) on the entire shaft (31) for easily guiding the adhesive tape. A generally comb-shaped rolling-up preventing device (60) with a plurality of pins (61) is installed behind the feed roller (10) for preventing the tape from rolling up when the feed roller is rotated. Pins (61) are inserted between the disks (13) of the feed roller (10) for scratching out the tape when the tape is reversed. The feeding disks (13) of the feed roller (10) are alternatively inter- arranged between the guiding disks (33) of the guide roller (30), with a clearance between the feeding disks (13) and the guiding disks (33) that are wider than the thickness of the feeding disks (13) and the guiding disks (33), for smooth rotation.

According to an implemental example of the present invention, the automatic tape dispenser as shown in Figs. 1 through 6 comprises a feed roller (10), a pinch roller (20), a guide roller (30), an elastic pressing part (40), a tape cutter (50), a power-driving device, a power-transmitting mechanism and a controller, all of which are configured in a compact case (3). The pinch roller (20) is adjacently located above the feed roller (10). The exterior of the feed roller (10) is formed with a plurality of feeding disks (13) for easily feeding the adhesive tape. The entire shaft (11) of the feed roller (10) is evenly and

uniformly arranged with the plurality of feeding disks (13).

The feed roller (10) is installed in parallel to the guide roller (30), which is located adjacent to the tape outlet. The elastic pressing part (40) is adjacently installed above the guide roller (30) for pressing the tape. The exterior of the guide roller (30) is formed with a plurality of guiding disks (33) for easily guiding the adhesive tape. The entire shaft (31) of guide roller (30) is evenly and uniformly arranged with the plurality of guiding disks (33).

The feeding disks (13) of the feed roller (10) are alternatively inter- arranged between the guiding disks (33) of the guide roller (30) for preventing the dispensing tape from rolling up. The inter-arrangement of feeding disks (13) and guiding disks (33) possibly eliminates the gap between the feed roller (10) and the guide roller (30), so that it prevents the dispensing tape between the feed roller (10) and the guide roller (30) from rolling up. For smooth rotation of the feed roller (10) and the guide roller (30), the clearance between the feeding disks (13) and the guiding disks (33) is wider than the thickness of the feeding disks (13) and guiding disks (33).

A power source, such as a motor (5), and the power transmitting mechanism (6) are connected to the feed roller (10) and guide roller (30) for operation.

The tape cutter (50), which consists of a cutter actuator and a cutter operator, is installed in front of the guide roller (30). A controller (7) formed with a plurality of terminals is provided to control the operation of the cutter and the rollers.

The feeding disks (13) of the feed roller (10) are made of an aluminum alloy material, and the exterior of the disks are made of treated knurling. Thus, the adhesive tape will not be rolled up with the rotation of the feed rollers (10).

The pinch roller (20) is made of a Urethane material so that it will prevent the tape from skidding on the pinch roller (20). The guiding disks (33) of the guide roller (30) are made of a Silicon material with a knurling treatment so that static electricity contacting the plastic tape is possibly reduced. Thus, the tape will not be rolled up with rotation of the guiding roller.

Furthermore, a generally comb-shaped rolling-up preventing device (60) with a plurality of pins (61) is installed behind the feed roller (10) to prevent the

tape from rolling up with the rotating of the feed roller. The plurality of pins (61) that are inserted between the disks (13) of the feed roller (10) will scratch out the tape when the tape is reversed for removing or replacing from the tape compartment.

At the top left surface of the case (3), a lower portion is provided for easily inserting the end of the tape between the feed roller and the guide roller.

It is convenient for the user to insert the tape from the rear of the rollers. A cover (4) is provided to open and close the tape outlet.

According to the present invention, the feed roller and the guide roller are provided with a plurality of feeding and guiding disks for eliminating the gap between the feed roller and the guide roller in order to prevent the dispensing tape from rolling up in the front or rear of the space between both rollers while the tape is advanced for dispensing or reversed for replacing.

While this invention has been described as having a preferred design, the present invention can be further modified within the spirit and scope of this disclosure. This application is therefore intended to cover any variations, uses, or adaptations of the invention using its general principles. Further, this application is intended to cover such departures from the present disclosure as come within known or customary practice in the art to which this invention pertains and which fall within the limits of the appended claims.
