Abstract:
Provided is an automobile body pillar structure such that the press formability of reinforcing members is improved, that furthermore, the number of parts is reduced, and that in spite of the above, safety protection of occupants during a lateral side collision can be sufficiently achieved. Reinforcing members (5) comprise a roof side rail side reinforcing panel (6) and a side sill side reinforcing panel (7) which are formed in such a way as to be separated from each other. One end of the roof side rail side reinforcing panel (6) and one end of the side sill side reinforcing panel (7) are connected to each other. Furthermore, the other end of the roof side rail side reinforcing panel (6) is connected to a roof side rail (11) with a connection reinforcing panel (9) interposed therebetween. The other end of the side sill side reinforcing panel (7) is connected to a side sill (12). On that side of the roof side rail side reinforcing panel (6) which faces the side sill side reinforcing panel (7), a reinforcing extension section (6c) is formed in such a way as to extend in a state where a portion of a protruding flange section (6b) is cut off, said reinforcing extension section (6c) being one of the components of a pair of extension sections. In the side sill side reinforcing panel (7), a reinforcing extension section (7c) is formed in such a way as to extend in a state where a portion of a protruding flange section (7b) is cut off, said reinforcing extension section (7c) being the other component of the pair of extension sections. These two extension sections are connected together on top of each other.
