Abstract:
A front pillar garnish 21 according to the present invention is provided with: a core material 4 comprising a hinge section 41 provided so as to cover the vehicle interior side of a front pillar 11; and a skin 6 stretched so as to cover a surface of the core material 4 facing the vehicle interior side. A door section 42 is a part of the core material 4 demarcated by the hinge section 41 and comprises a part that can be brought into contact with an airbag 31. The skin 6 comprises a folded section 61 extending to the outer edge side of the rear surface of the core material 4 so as to cover an edge section 44 connecting the surface of the core material 4 and the rear surface of the core material 4. The folded section 61 comprises: a first folded section 61a that does not intersect the hinge section 41 and that is positioned on the door section 42 side; and a second folded section 61b that is folded from the first folded section 61a and that intersects the hinge section 41. The first folded section 61a and the second folded section 61b are stitched using a thread 7. The present invention makes it possible to provide an automobile interior component that is manufactured by a simple process and that can reliably minimize scattering of fragments of the core material 4 and the skin 6 of the front pillar garnish 21 toward the vehicle interior side as a result of cracking and breaking of the core material and the skin occurring when the airbag is deployed.
