Abstract:
This robot regularly acquires captured images and extracts feature points from the captured images to make a key frame. An image storage layer of the robot is formed of an aggregation of key frames. The robot also acquires environmental information from a variety of sensors simultaneously with the extraction of the key frames. An environment storage layer is formed of environmental information for respective sites. The robot generates an environment map by associating the image storage layer (key frames) and the environment storage layer (environmental information) with one another. The environment map represents a "memory associated with place" of the robot. The robot selects a destination on the basis of the environment map.
