Abstract:
A method and apparatus for operating an autonomous vehicle are provided. The method may include monitoring a functional load on a driver-assistance system (124) of the autonomous vehicle as operation of the autonomous vehicle is being controlled by the driver-assistance system (124). The method may also include detecting when a current function load (502) of the driver-assistance system (124) satisfies a functional load threshold, and controlling operation of at least one component of the autonomous vehicle in response to detection of the functional load threshold being satisfied.
