Abstract:
Provided is an electric vacuum cleaner (11) in which the idling state of a drive wheel can be effectively transitioned out of. The electric vacuum cleaner (11) includes a main body case, a drive wheel, a control means (27), and a detecting means (56). The drive wheel enables the main body case to travel. The control means (27) causes the main body case to travel autonomously, by controlling the driving of the drive wheel. The detecting means (56) detects an idling state of the drive wheel. If idling of the drive wheel has been detected by the detecting means 56, the control means (27) controls the driving of the drive wheel so as to consecutively perform, a plurality of times, an operation of retracting the main body case by a certain distance, followed by an operation of swiveling the main body case in one predetermined direction and advancing the same by a predetermined distance.
