Title:
AUXILIARY AIR CONDITIONING, HEATING AND ENGINE WARMING SYSTEM FOR TRUCKS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1987/007680
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A lightweight auxiliary power plant (24) including an engine (26), electrical alternator (32), water pump (33), air conditioning compressor (30) and a heat exchanger (34) is mounted at a convenient location on the tractor of a truck (10). The main engine (12) of the truck operates the existing air conditioning and heating system (21 and 22) in a normal manner when the main engine is running. When the main engine (12) is not operating and the smaller engine (26) of the auxiliary power plant is operating, the truck air conditioning and heating system (21 and 22) operates by the auxiliary power plant (24). The heat exchanger (34) of the auxiliary power plant (24) then utilizes the heat of exhaust gases generated by the auxiliary engine (26) to warm the truck engine (12) during the time it is not operating.
