Abstract:
A backlight device which produces uniform illumination light and which is lightweight.
A backlight device (10) is provided with light guide bars (20) for guiding light emitted from light sources (30). The light guide bars are arranged at predetermined intervals therebetween. The light guide bars (20) are each provided with worked sections (22e) located at the side surfaces (22d) thereof and changing the advance direction of the light, which is emitted from the light sources, to directions which are suitable for the emission of the light to the outside. The portions of each of the light guide bars which are located on the side opposite a liquid crystal display panel (2) are provided with the worked sections, and the portions thereof which are located on the liquid display panel side are not provided with the worked sections.
