Abstract:
A backlight device having a light guide plate, a light source provided near a light incident surface of the light guide plate and having a light exit surface, and a reflection sheet provided near the lower surface of the light guide plate. Microprisms each having a gentle slope and a steep slope are formed on that upper surface of the reflection sheet which faces the lower surface of the light guide plate, and the gentle slope is inclined so as to face the light exit surface of the light source. Displacement in directional characteristics of the backlight device is corrected to increase front face brightness.
