Abstract:
With the object of reducing color unevenness generated due to a difference in distance between the light source of a backlight unit and a wavelength converting member, there is provided is a backlight unit (2) which includes a light source (4) in which a plurality of light emitting elements (8) are arranged two-dimensionally, and a wavelength converting member (6) which has a phosphor (12) and converts the wavelength of light from the light source and in which the wavelength converting ability changes according to the distance to the closest light emitting element.
