Abstract:
A gaming machine comprises: a liquid crystal display panel; a backlight unit arranged on the backside of the liquid crystal display panel; and one or more reels which are arranged on the backside of the backlight unit and in which a plurality of symbols are displayed. The backlight unit comprises: an optical switch plate which selectively forms a transparent state or an opaque state of a predetermined area corresponding to a symbol selection area as the location of the symbol selected among the plurality of symbols displayed in the reel using a polymer dispersion type liquid crystal layer; a half mirror which is arranged on the backside of the optical switch plate; a first light source which is arranged in the front of the half mirror to emit light traveling through the optical switch plate to the front side; and a second light source which is arranged on the backside of the half mirror to emit the light.
