Abstract:
Disclosed is a backup power supply device which, when a main power supply (13) for driving an optical encoder (11) fails, supplies power for backup to the optical encoder (11), said backup power supply device being provided with a battery (12) which stores direct-current power, a capacitor (33) which stores the direct-current power and, when the power from the battery (12) cannot be supplied, supplies the power for backup to the optical encoder (11), a discharge unit (34) which discharges the power charged in the battery (12), and a periodic discharge control unit (35) which performs control for intermittently outputting the power charged in the battery (12) to the discharge unit (34) to consume the battery power.
