Abstract:
A gas spring (1) is provided with a cylinder body (12), a gas chamber (17) disposed in the cylinder body (12) and filled with compressed gas, a rod member (14) which is capable of advancing and retreating relative to the cylinder body (12) and which extends away from the cylinder body (12) upon receiving the gas pressure of the gas chamber (17). Also provided is a sleeve member (13) which is fitted rotatably and gas-tight in a sleeve mounting hole (12c) formed on the rod-side end wall (12a) of the cylinder body (12), and which is fitted rotatably and gas-tight around the aforementioned rod member (14) to allow sliding in the length direction of the rod member (14). Further provided are a rotation restriction mechanism (15) which restricts the rod member (14) from rotating, and a rotation driving means (16) for driving the rotation of the aforementioned sleeve member (13).
