Abstract:
This ball end mill comprises: an end mill body (2) that is formed into a shaft shape; a plurality of convex arcuate bottom blades (9) that are disposed on the tip of the end mill body (2) around an axis line (O) with spaces therebetween, and that form a semi-spherical shape having a rotational trajectory around the axis line (O) which is centered on the axis line (O); and a plurality of gashes (7) that are disposed adjacent to the plurality of bottom blades (9) in the direction of rotation of the end mill around the axis line (O). The plurality of bottom blades (9) includes: a first bottom blade wherein the blade length toward the interior in the radial direction perpendicular to the axis line (O) is the longest among the plurality of bottom blades (9); a second bottom blade that is adjacent to the first bottom blade in the direction of rotation of the end mill, and that has a blade length toward the interior in the radial direction that is shorter than the first bottom blade; and a third bottom blade that is adjacent to the second bottom blade in the direction of rotation of the end mill, and that has a blade length toward the interior in the radial direction that is shorter than the second bottom blade. The depth of the gash (7B) of the second bottom blade is deeper than the gash (7C) of the third bottom blade, and the depth of the gash (7A) of the first bottom blade is deeper than the gash (7B) of the second bottom blade.
