Abstract:
The present invention relates to a ball joint articulation for a surgical instrument in which joints of a surgical instrument are coupled by ball joints. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a ball joint articulation for a surgical instrument in which a pitching or yawing axis thereof does not change even with repeated pitching and yawing, a joint for a surgical instrument using ball joints according to the present invention comprising: a plurality of circular disks; ball joints allowing a plurality of circular disks to pitch and yaw against each other therebetween relative to the lengthwise direction of the joint of the surgical instrument; and an actuating wire for applying actuating power to pitch, yaw and roll the plurality of circular disks. Thus, a joint for a surgical instrument using ball joints according to the present invention keeps the rotational axis thereof from changing even with repeated movements of the joint, and the durability thereof can raise the safety of the surgical instrument when used therein.
