Abstract:
Provided are: a ball joint which is configured so that the ball joint is not increased in size and so that a variation in torque caused by a variation in the amount of staking of a staking section (39) is reduced; and a method for manufacturing the ball joint.
The ball seat (16) is formed so that a sloped surface (29) is sloped at a first slope angle (α) relative to the direction (B) perpendicular to the axis. The ball seat (16) which holds a ball section (21) is received by a housing body (37), and a protrusion (28) which protrudes in the direction (B) perpendicular to the axis, at the outer edge of an opening (32) of the seat body (27) of the ball seat (16) is supported by a support section (38) sloped relative to the direction (B) perpendicular to the axis. The staking section (39) is staked and deformed so that the staking section (39) is sloped at a predetermined third slope angle (γ) relative to the direction (B) perpendicular to the axis, the predetermined third slope angle (γ) being greater than the first slope angle (α). The protrusion (28) is gripped between the support section (38) and the staking section (39) at the position of at least a part of the sloped surface (29) which is sloped on the front end side of the protrusion (28) to the seat body (27) side toward the outer edge at the predetermined first slope angle (α) relative to the direction (B) perpendicular to the axis.
