In this ball joint structure, a ball reception side member includes a first opening portion and a second opening portion which are connected to a ball housing space of a ball reception portion from opposite sides. In each of the first opening portion and the second opening portion, a protruding edge section which protrudes radially inward and a recessed edge section which is recessed radially outward are alternately provided in a direction around the axis of the ball reception portion. The protruding edge section of the first opening portion and the recessed edge section of the second opening portion are provided at positions corresponding to each other in the direction around the axis. The recessed edge section of the first opening portion and the protruding edge section of the second opening portion are provided at positions corresponding to each other in the direction around the axis. The ball reception portion includes protruding strip sections which are connected to the protruding edge sections and extend inwardly in the axis direction of the ball reception portion, and recessed groove sections which are connected to the recessed edge sections and which extend inwardly in the axis direction of the ball reception portion. Accordingly, a ball joint structure can be provided in which a ball reception side member formed of a part extending to an operation portion and a part holding a ball is formed as a single member, and further, the diameter thereof can be increased.
