Abstract:
Disclosed is a sand-removal device that removes mud and sand accumulated in a ballast tank in a ship, said ballast tank comprising tank compartments (15) formed by partitioning the space in the ballast tank via garters (13) and floors (14) and provided with a water injection/drainage means (21) that injects and drains seawater. Said sand-removal device is provided with: nozzles (19) that spray water and are arranged near the floor plate (11) of a tank compartment; a water supply pipe (17) that supplies water to the nozzles; and a control unit that has the nozzles spray water, thereby blasting mud and sand accumulated in that tank compartment up into said tank compartment, and has the abovementioned water injection/drainage means drain the resulting water mixture containing suspended/dispersed mud and sand. Mud and sand accumulated in the ballast tank is thus removed efficiently.
