Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a balloon catheter for IABP which is minimally invasive and which enables body temperature control to be performed with high efficiency. [Solution] This balloon catheter for IABP is provided with: a catheter tube 2 to be inserted into an aorta; an IABP balloon 3 provided in the vicinity of a distal end of the catheter tube 2; and a heat exchange balloon 4 which is provided in part of the catheter tube 2, in the direction of extension thereof, and which exchanges heat between blood flowing to the outside thereof, and a temperature regulated fluid flowing through the inside thereof. The catheter tube 2 includes: a pressurizing fluid conduction path though which a pressurizing fluid is conducted to cause the IABP balloon 3 to expand and contract; a temperature regulated fluid supply path 24 which supplies the temperature regulated fluid, the temperature of which has been regulated, to the heat exchange balloon 4; and a temperature regulated fluid discharge path 25 which discharges the temperature regulated fluid that has been subjected to heat exchange by the heat exchange balloon 4.
